Drive to visit the Dargah Sharif followed by visit to Ana Sagar Lake, Akbar’s Palace and Museum along with Adhai Din Ka Jhonpra. Then we will continue to the holy city which is 15 kms from Ajmer.The city is a Hindu pilgrimage site which is believed to be settled by Hindu Lord Brahma. The Pushkar Lake and Jagatpita Brahma Temple are the major attractions of the city. The trip ends with this and you will be transferred back to your hotel.
Dargah Sharif
This is an Islamic mortmain of Saint Moinuddin Chishti, he is also known as Garib Nawaz meaning benefactor of the poor. Many people, no matter what religion they belong to have deep faith in this pilgrimage site. This historic site was visited by Mughal Emperor Akbar along with his queens. The complex has several buildings of white marble with the main domed structure and the entrance gate which was gifted by Nizam of Hyderabad. Around 1.5 million devotees visit Dargah Sharif every year.
Adhai Din Ka Jhonpra
The oldest building, the Adhai Din Ka Jhonpra is a mosque which was built by Qutub-ud-Din Aibak on the orders of Mohammad Ghori. The tale has that it was built in a period of two and a half days or 60 hours and hence has been named so. The structure is now taken care of by ASI and is known for the beautiful inscriptions of verses of Quran on the arches, arcades and pillars along with carved out windows.
Anasagar Lake
It is an artificial lake that was constructed after damming the waters of Luni River, it was built in 12th century by Arnoraja. It also has a small island in the middle which is accessible by boat. The marble steps on banks of the water reservoir were built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan; there are two gardens on both sides, the Subhash Bagh and Daulat Bagh. Daulat Bagh offers panoramic views of the city.
Pushkar Lake
Spread in an area of 8.5 square miles, the Pushkar Lake has 52 banks used for bathing by the Hindu pilgrims. The sacred water emerged as a result of falling of Lord Brahma’s Lotus petals and hence got its name. The sacred reservoir is visited by many devotees who take sacred dip in the water and also visit the famous Lord Brahma Temple in the city.
Jagatpita Brahma Temple
Situated close to the holy water reservoir, this temple is one of the rarest temples of Lord Brahma. The present structure of the Jagatpita Brahma Temple was built in the 14th century but it is said that the original temple stood there as old as 2000 years ago. The Jagatpita Brahma Temple is built in the traditional Hindu architecture with sanctorum and spire. The distinctive feature of the temple is the red colored spire and old coin inlays on the walls.
